March, 2009 :

Spring is on the way, and with the changing of seasons will come a full and crazy schedule for everyone. Please read over the attached invoice and calendar for any errors. If you need any updated music, let me know and I can get you a copy. The new music writing software I have is great. If I find a typo, I can just go into the computer and fix it, instead of writing out the entire tune again. I’ve added some new tunes into the packets, so if you are interested in going back to learn them, we can do that too.

I’m starting to get a lot of students in the family partnership program. Please keep in mind that if you are part of this program, you will be responsible for sending in the invoices. Just bring them to your lesson for me to look over and sign. Every student is paying differently, and it is just too difficult for me to keep track of who is paying for how much and when. My dad is taking guitar students and is also a part of family partnership. If you or someone you know is interested in learning rhythm guitar, you can email him at juggler@gci.net .

On Sat. March 7th, level 4 will be performing at the 4th Ave. Marketplace after the kick off of the Iditarod at 10am. I am very excited to play with them and it would be great to have some support from fellow students. If you are performing or planning to attend, please be aware that 4th Ave. and Cordova St. will be blocked off for the races. Allow extra time to get there. Students that are performing need to be there by 9:30am. I sent an email with an attached order of tunes to practice. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Next week (March 8th-13th) is spring break. I will not be teaching next week. There are five Tuesdays this month, so levels 2-4 will be pushed forward a week for their group lessons. Level 1 will be this Tuesday (March 3rd), Level 2 will be on March 17th, Level 3 will be on March 24th, and level 4 will be on March 31st. All group lessons are from 5:30-6:30pm and cost $15. We will start preparing for our spring recital these next couple of months. I am aiming for May 16th, but I have not reserved the church yet.

The fiddling is sounding great, and I am happy to see everyone practicing so hard and even cleaning up their technique. Keep up the good work!
