Hello everyone. I hope all is well. I think the schedule is finally starting to come together. I’ve tried to move lessons around to work for everyone including my self. We have a few new students this month, so I thought I would remind everyone of some of my policies and practice advice. I also have been handing out some of the updated music. Now may be a good time to clean out your binders to make room for some of these papers. If you would like a new copy of anything, just let me know.

In case you didn’t notice last month, I did increase my rates this semester. Please look over your invoices for any errors. I do all of my own accounting and I do make mistakes sometimes. Also, if you miss a lesson and don’t let me know, I will charge you for the lesson. Please call me or email me if you cannot make your lesson. Students are also required to wash their hands before their lesson. Violins are very expensive and should only be handled with clean, dry hands. (Also, I don’t like getting sick…).

I have been very happy to see so many students show up for their group lessons. One thing my dad mentioned was that he’s noticed a lot of unsupervised siblings roaming around upstairs during the group lessons. I don’t mind if siblings want to read in the upstairs studio, but they need to have a parent upstairs with them. My dad also repairs instruments upstairs and sometimes there are knives and other sharp tools lying around. Please make sure that books, and markers are put away before you leave.

Looking ahead, I will not be teaching the week of Spring Break (March 8th-13th). There are five Tuesdays that month, so we won’t have to skip any group lessons. I also will not be teaching Thursday, April 16th through Sunday, April 19th during the Juneau Folk Festival. I’m going to try to reserve the Unitarian church for our spring recital on May 16th. We will end lessons for the semester on May 22nd right before Memorial Day weekend.

Everyone is sounding better and better as time goes on. I can’t wait to hear what the new students will sound like in the future. If you play a little bit every day and try to enjoy what you’re doing, you will learn quickly and sound great. Happy fiddling!
